As a member of The Grove Park Inn Resort & Spa family for more than 29 years, Craig Madison has played an essential role in bringing the resort into the 21st century. He is currently overseeing a four-year development plan, which will expand The Grove Park Inn Resort & Spa's brand and culture.

Craig attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, studying Radio, Television, Motion Pictures and Advertising. Three days before he was to begin his senior year, he left school, obtained a Small Business Administration loan and co-founded The Alpha Group, an advertising agency in Asheville, North Carolina. He served as President of The Alpha Group from 1978 -1999.

In 1979, The Grove Park Inn hired The Alpha Group to handle local Food & Beverage advertising. After five years of successful and expanding advertising efforts on behalf of the hotel, Craig was retained as the Director of Marketing, a position he held for 15 years, until his appointment in September of 1999 as General Manager. In March 2003, Craig was promoted to President and CEO, where his new charge is the continued development of the brand, the people and the culture of The Grove Park Inn Resort & Spa.

Craig is former Chairman for the International Resort Managers Association and the North Carolina Travel & Tourism Coalition. He is current Chairman for the Buncombe County Tourism Development Authority, and serves as a Board Member for North Carolina Travel & Tourism, Advantage West Regional Economic Partnership, the Better Business Bureau, the Asheville Buncombe Technical College Foundation and the University of North Carolina- Asheville College Foundation Board.
