- April, 1999 - Sammons Annuity Group began operations preparing to introduce annuity products for the Sammons’ insurance companies.
- September, 1999 - The first fixed annuity products sold through Midland National Life.
- November, 1999 - Moved the operations of Royal Life of New York into Des Moines as result of acquisition of Royal Life of New York from Swiss Re. This resulted in an additional 30,000 policyowners and $800 million in assets to manage.
- July, 2000-Merged Royal Life into North American of New York.
- January, 2001 - Introduced fixed annuity portfolio for North American.
- June, 2001 - Consolidated all remaining fixed and variable annuity operations into Des Moines office.
- December 2001 - Renamed as Sammons Annuity Group.
- February, 2002 - Launched new variable annuity for Midland National Life.
- January, 2003 - Midland National acquired the U.S. operations of Clarica Life Insurance.
- June, 2003 - Integrated annuity operations for Clarica Life Insurance Co.
- November, 2003 - Sammons Annuity Group assets surpassed $10 billion - GAAP basis.
- June, 2004 - Sammons Annuity group surpassed $100 million in pre-tax earnings - GAAP basis.
