


- The Grove Park Inn, built out of large granite boulders and located atop Sunset Mountain in Asheville, NC, opened in 1913 with a gala featuring a formal address by then Secretary of State William Jennings Bryan.
- The Grove Park Inn became part of the Sammons family of companies in 1955, when it was purchased by Charles A. Sammons, who began a long period of renovation and expansion which included the addition of the Sammons and Vanderbilt Wings, the Sports Complex, the Spa, and the Main Inn roof and guest room renovations.
